Hyperbaric Chamber
Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Chamber is an oxygen therapy treatment which delivers oxygen at increased pressure levels. During this treatment the patient is in a pressurized oxygenated environment while also breathing in pure oxygen through a mask. This allows the lungs to collect more oxygen which increases the amount of oxygen dissolved in the blood and delivered to tissues. At higher pressures oxygen can be delivered to the bloodstream up to 20 times faster than normal. Increased oxygen levels promote accelerated healing and allow the body to fight disease more efficiently. Hyperbaric Chambers have shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, reduce inflammation and speed up damaged tissue repair.
Similar to riding in an airplane, the patient may experience a feeling of fullness in their ears, which can be relieved by swallowing, yawning, or gently blowing out through the nose.
